Why am I a SWPTA member?

Why am I a SWPTA member? I serve on the SWPTA Membership Committee, and I must ask myself this question if I am going to convince others they should be SWPTA members. So, the question, why am I a SWPTA member? When I was first voluntold into parking, a SWPTA member invited me to attend a SWPTA webinar. I knew I had a lot to learn about parking, so I signed up.

I had attended other online training sessions, but the atmosphere at the SWPTA webinar was different. I arrived a bit early and I was immediately welcomed by the other early birds. As people arrived the newcomers were also immediately welcomed. Everyone seemed to be familiar with each other, comfortable enough to chat and open enough to include everyone, even me, the new face. I have to be honest; I don’t remember the webinar topic. What I remember is being included, feeling informed, and being comfortable enough to participate in the conversation.

After that webinar, I convinced my agency that we needed to be SWPTA members. I have attended almost every webinar since. So began my involvement in SWPTA. I have made some amazing friends through SWPTA, learned a lot about parking, and gained some great insight into this small but mighty industry. Years later, I serve on the SWPTA Board of Directors, attend every webinar and SWPTA event I can, serve on committees, and attend the best conference in the industry every October.

So why should you be a SWPTA member? Beyond the wonderful education opportunities, the great networking, the industry exposure, and the best conference, each SWPTA member is welcomed with open arms.
