This session is an introductory presentation designed to orient new professionals to the parking and mobility industry and its rolewithin transportation systems and communities. The session provides a clearoverview of how parking and mobility programs impact economics, policy, and thedaily lives of many. Beyond technical fundamentals, this course highlights theimportance of customer service, equity, stakeholder engagement, andcross-organization collaboration. 

Learning Objectives
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the role of parking and mobility programs in transportation systems and communities.
  2. Explain how parking policies affect economics, daily life, and community outcomes.
  3. Recognize the importance of customer service, equity, and collaboration in program delivery.

Speaker Bio:

Vanessa Solesbee, PTMP, CCTM, brings extensiveexperience in public parking management and consulting. Withprevious experience as a municipal parking, transit and fleet divisionmanager, she now partners with cities and universities todeliver strategic parking plans, operational assessments, stakeholderengagement processes, and progressive public policy solutions — helpingcommunities address the complex political and operational realities of managingpublic parking and curbside space.  Vanessa currently serves in severalvolunteer capacities for IPMI, including Certification Board of Directors, ChairElect, Legislative & Policy Cohort member, Accredited Parking Organization(APO) Site Reviewer and APO 2.0, Part Two Working Group member. She also servesas a mentor for Mobility Pathfinders’ 2026 Wayfinder Mentorship Program.
